Hey spesh! Its just occured to me, I know the two blokes in your header, The ones in the riot gear and paint, I even know what day that was on cos i was covered in the same stuff! whats the chances of that, we were on the same unit in the 90's and that paint was thrown on a particular march concerning Liverpool Dockers of all things, by members of the SWP in the centre of london outside number 10! Small world!
Thats very scary! Pretty cool now though that they are no longer "random coppers"

methinks you're applying to the wrong force if you won't be in until 2008 - shop around as some forces will take you within months.
I've also just got an application form for the regulars and it'd be 2008 for me, too. Hmmm... I wonder how far away Plodsville and Scroatsville are from each other...?!?!?! ;)
Is Blandmore one of these forces that will have you in months then? Would be interesting to know which ones do!
HobbyBobby, feel free to state either as a comment or email which force or even whereabouts you be! Obviously I dont expect the former!
We have a saying in our office...."You have to be in it to win it". In other words, if you don't apply, you certainly won't be accepted! Give it a go mate, and good luck! (It's not a bad job really....despite all the moaning I do about it!).
What are the chances... I have a regular application form too ;) And like extraspecial there would be some time until I got a start date.
On one hand I think I could do the job fulltime, in fact gaffers are trying to get me to apply, they think I'm made of "the right stuff". On the other hand, I do like the ability to walk away pretty much when I choose. Time will tell.

PC South West - lol suprised nobody suggested it sooner! Dont think (/I know!) its not a role I would enjoy at all!
It took me 18 months to get in. I have been in almost 7 months. Best decision I have ever made was to apply. Your patience does get tested in the process though. At least you have the specials to tide you over during the application.

I tried and didn't get passed the paper sift. Good enough to be a Special but not a reg. Not impressed.
